Who We Are

Ministries, Evangelical Outreach & Social Works

I am Somaiah Samuel born and raised by moderately wealthy Hindu parents in south east India, I have 3 siblings. Although my parents are Hindu, they were kind and helped those in real need but very strong believers of Hindu gods. They give debts to farmers and haven’t got it back when there weren’t good crops, eventually they lost all the money and kept me in a Christian hostel.

I started thinking that Jesus is also one among many Gods I have. So, when I was a teenager I went to a Hindu temple on Friday and to church on Sunday and believed in me more than in anything else, I thought I am strong, powerful as I’ve started working and saved quite a bit of money. Life was going fine with alcohol and friends.

All of a sudden, one day, when I got up, I was in a hospital bed and trying to recollect what had happened. Then I realised, I fell off from a bus (I was standing at the steps of the bus as it was crowded) while going to a Hindu temple to do rituals. At this point in time, I had a question – how can this happen if I am going to pray to God? While this question is running in my mind, a pastor kept visiting patients in hospital with whom I kept talking about Jesus asking questions and realised that there is only one God. All else were evil spirits. From that time I started believing in Jesus and realised there is only one God through which my sins are forgiven.

I started going to church regularly, reading the bible and going to different places with pastors as a helper while working as a tailor. I was taken only to rich Christian houses and business to pray for them. After a few years, in my dream, I saw a boy with great light in his face who seemed like Jesus sitting on my shoulders and pointing his finger towards villages and hut and poor people. It got me thinking about what it means, then I spoke about this to the Pastor who preached me gospel while I was at hospital and understood that God wants me to go and preach Gospel to those who haven’t heard and comfort with his words to those who are in need. My parents who were strong Hindu believers got saved after seeing a change in my life and they built a church in their village for the community.

I wasn’t a trained pastor but something in me was pushing me so strongly, then I took all the courage and started visiting villages. Surprisingly people were welcoming, wanting to hear about Jesus who can give them joy, relieve them from sin and take them to heaven. Many came forward asking for prayers as they were sick when I prayed in Jesus name so they would be healed in my next visit. Then I started a church planting ministry.

Built the first church on my land, and the first visitor was a leper. All the stains all over the church. I didn't like it when I saw her pain, I prayed with her, she got healed. Second lady name is Laxmi who got 5 miscarriages and told by doctors she can’t bear a baby anymore due to complications in her womb, she visited many Hindu temples, doctors and specialist but of no hope then her husband wants to marry other lady. I prayed with her and by God’s grace she got a baby and her husband wouldn’t want to visit her in hospital to see the baby as he had got used to seeing a baby and baby dying in a few days or hours. This was a challenge for me with God and with Hindu community. I was praying. I visited the baby in the hospital and prayed, her husband visited the baby after 3 days and he started believing in Jesus after a few months, now his entire family was saved and got baptised. This was helping to look after one of the villages in ministry after a few years of his journey. These are just a few stories, there are many healing illnesses, relieving people from evil spirits. All these built my trust in God more than ever, encouraged not only them but also me.
